Cinemas

Munich has cinemas to suit almost every taste, though remember
that foreign films in mainstream cinemas are invariably dubbed.
Besides the large movie houses, Munich has art cinemas (Isabella,
Rottman, Türkendolch, Arena,
Maxim) as well as venues showing different
films every day and films in their original versions.
The movie theatre at Kunstpark Ost is open till 4am and in
the Summer there is an open air cinema in the West Park as
well as open-air performances on Königsplatz. The Veltins-Open-Air-Cinema
at the Werk III in Kunstpark Ost runs from the end of July
till early September .

There are also film festivals such as the International Documentaries
Festival, and smaller special-interest events such as the Phantasy
Film Festival or the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Programmes for
all cinemas are available in the daily papers.
English Cinemas in Munich 
Probably of most interest to English speakers in Munich will
be the two cinemas that show only Original Versions (no dubbing).
The Museumlichtspiele located between
the Deutsches Museum and Gasteig, and the Cinema
at Stiglmaierplatz.
The 'Cinema' is very modern and has one big screen, whilst
the 'Museumlichtspiele' has a number of smaller screens and
is a bit more cosy.
