There are plenty in the Innenstadt particularly around the Marienplatz and in nice weather they extend onto the the pavements and pedestrian areas. Street cafe culture is definitely the order of the day. At Marienplatz, one of the best places to see the clock do its thing is the bistro at the Metropolitan, it is open from 9am to 11pm daily. Round the corner and up a lift is Cafe Glockenspiel a bit more studenty, though at peak cafe times it does get very busy.
