Oktoberfest Beer Tents

There are various beer tents at the Oktoberfest.

Most of the tents on the Wiesn open at 10.30 in the morning and shut at 23.00 and some like Käfer, Weinzelt at 01:00. However even there they won’t let more people in after 22.30. Beer Serving Hours are from 10am to 10.30pm during the week and from 9am to 10.30pm on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The fairground rides are open from 10am to 11.30pm (Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays) and from 10am to 12am on Friday and Saturday.

Oktoberfest beer prices 2016

A litre jug of beer, called a “Mass”, is expensive at ~ 10€ , prices for 2016 were between 9.70 € and 10.10 €.

Inside the Hofbräuhaus

A touch of the Oktoberfest all year. Very close to the Marienplatz. Just to the south right of the Marienplatz, opposite the Rock Cafe. There’s also a beer garden out back too which is nice on hot days. It’s quite touristy, but if you want a feel for the Oktoberfest at any time of the year, it’s a good place to go.

Augustiner-Keller

Famous beer cellar right on the main shopping street. Head north from the Marienplatz towards Karlsplatz and it’s on the left. The Augustiner Keller is a favourite of mine if you want to real Munich atmosphere and not something put on for the tourists.

I went there with my family a while ago and was surprised to see that for every day they now offer some kind of vegetarian alternative. It’s still pretty basic like egg, spinach and chips but hey.. they are actually offering real vegetarian food. Amazing for Munich beer cellers.
